Programme Content

Session 1
a. Introduction to Photoshop and its fundamentals
b. Introduction to optics, capture and composition

Learning Objective:

Practical understanding of software's interface and the basic tools.
Comparative understanding of optical capture devices.
Fundamental practical of composition for the camera.


Session 2
a. Introduction to the illustrator interface
b. Typography lesson, its uses in relation to the world around us.
c. Typography, practical

Learning Objective:

Getting acquainted with the illustrator interface
Practical walk through with the application.
Typographical awareness, categorization and classification.

Session 3
a. Optical composition practice, technique & application.
b. Quick observation exercise.
c. Media preparation for the visual image

Learning Objective:
Working understanding of how to compose using applied principles.
Basic image processing, formatting and technical qualifying must haves
for all visual media


Session 4
Digital Compositing
a. Compositing lesson, its uses in advertising media.
b. Practical exercise on the compositing process.

Learning Objective:
Recognizing patterns in the visual image as opportunities and how to take
advantage of them for the purpose of image manipulation and editing.


Session 5
Lighting fundamentals
a. Introduction to lighting systems, awareness, studio practical photographic exercise.
b. Practical application, control and problem solving.

Learning Objective:
Awareness, sharpened observation, reactionary problem solving
& visual critical thinking.

Session 6
Practical Exercises infusing all practical skills acquired through lessons 1 to 5 .

Learning Objective:
Bring it all together, generating discussion, exposing individual technical concerns and
to flush out areas of misunderstanding

On the completion of this programme, participants should:-
1. Be able to navigate Photoshop and Illustrator software confidently
2. Be able to generate simple layouts using Illustrator
3. Be able to identify font types and classes
4. Be able to execute photographic assignments independently
5. Develop sensibilities about lighting and composition elements in photographs
6. Be able to perform basic digital manipulation on images
7. Create simple composite images

This course is devoted to project based learning, meaning you're going to make stuff. You'll create professional quality artwork from scratch step by step under the watchful tutelage of renowned visual artist Wesley Nicholls..

You'll create beautifully formatted text documents, and you'll experience the unbridled power of creativity and passion in this contextualized learning program.

Session 1
a. Vector art and illustration.

Can I use my MAC to attend the workshop?
Yes, our workshop is designed for MAC and PC users.

How big is the class?
We usually cater for no more than 10 - 12 persons at our workshop.

Can I register on the day?
No. we usually require advance confirmation of participation as seating and technical resources must be in place days before workshop begins.. This ensures on the day that we all hit the ground running with everything operating smoothly.

Must I own a camera and laptop?
If you don't have a laptop or camera one will be assigned to you for the duration of the workshop.

What if my laptop doesn't have Photoshop & Illustrator Software?
Visit our studio at least 3 days before Workshop begins for installation.

Do I need to have any special skills or artist ability to do this workshop?

At this level no. The only requirement is that you must be computer literate.

Is this course accredited?

No, this course is not accredited, however a certificate of participation will be awarded based on successful completion of workshop assignments.
